An arbitrary table (in alphabetical order), indicating where players have finished in each game, the right being the most recent (0 indicating not finishing in the top 5). The number in brackets after indicates how many SLT games he/she has missed since they last played, with (x) indicating they have not played for 4 games or more. "-" = missed one game; "/" = missed more than one.

Useless stats:
Christian is the most profitable player so far;
Maria is the least profitable player so far;
Most profitable players in the short term:
Jan/Feb - Rich (+£12)
March/April - Mark (+£19)
May/June - Christian (+£30)
July/August - Catherine (+£15)
Sept/Oct - Andy (+£13)
Nov/Dec - Chris L (£+5);
Least profitable players in the short term:
Jan/Feb - Maria & Dave (-£8)
March/April - Helen (-£12)
May/June - Mark and Matthew (-£10)
July/August - Mark (-£10)
Sept/Oct - Catherine (-£8)
Nov/Dec - Rees (-£6);
Christian has won the most number of games - 5, and is the only player to have recorded a hat-trick of wins;
Steve E has the least successful record - out first in the second hand of his only game; Chris L has the best record - he has never been out first in 18 starts;
Rees is the deadliest players - 32 victims;
Rees is the deadliest player in a single game. He knocked out all 6 of his opponents, unsurprisingly he won it; in a four-handed game he won by knocking out his 3 opponents.
Rees has been first out the most times (5 occasions);
Matthew has had the biggest hand to be shown down; quad Aces on the first hand on the 19th March against Rees; on 9th September Rees got the quad Aces (though not against Matthew);
Simon H is our newest player;
Mark and Rees have played the most games so far, 25 from 33 held;
We have had 4 games played across 2 tables;
14 out of the 31 who have played this year have never finished in the money;
We have 8 female and 23 male players; of those, six are (officially) gay;
10 players are in profit, 21 players are not;
Our largest game involved 13 players. The winner ended up with 13,000 in chips;
The 9th September game required no heads-up contest; Maria had amassed sufficient chips to knock out her last two opponent in the same hand.

Hello Stuey
If you do decide to play for money, you must have one thing: patience.
It will enormously improve your real game (even if you play for only 50cents) and I think that is why nearly of of us have now gone to playing for money online. With varying degrees of success I imagine, but I don't think any of the SLT players have gone bust too badly!
There is also an argument that play-for-free games online actually make you a worse player as it leads to little recognition of starting hands/position etc. If it's free to stay in, why would I fold?
But anyway some people just don't like the idea of playing for money this way which is also arguably the best way. It's a big grind where patience is the numero uno thing.
Let us know how you get on. |

My understanding is that each digit represents your place in a particular week (if you finished fifth or above otherwise you get a zero) and a forward slash represents a week where you didn't play. Therefore, if the column shows 30/42 it means 5 weeks ago you came third, the following week you finished lower than 5th, then you missed a week, then came fourth then second. I think... am sure Mark will correct me if I'm wrong!
Well played yourself last night Anton! |

- = missed 1 game
0 = lower than 5th
0 = lower than 5th
/ = missed two or more games
0 = lower than 5th |

Recent form analysis by Statsman:
Christian has undoubtedly been the most successful player, taking an unprecedented first place in the last three games, and consequently successful at eliminating players. He appears play a lot of seemingly marginal hands, going on the philosophy of "any two cards can win", and consequently when he hits he wins big pots. He'll call a show down on marginal hands which makes him difficult to bluff. One might think this style of play can be suicidal but it's worked to amazing success of late. Time will tell if he can continue this; surely he will.
After a long run of no success, Helen's patient style of play won her the two previous games. What seems to win it for her is that it can be difficult to put her on a hand as her bets are usually very regular, and hard to tell if she's bluffing or trying to give a drawing opponent value. More success on top of her double win is likely.
Anton has managed to have some success of late. Two second places and a third in his last three games makes him, Christian excepted, the most consistent finisher. A win is almost certainly on the cards, no pun intended. A non-starter in the last game.
Caroline is one of our newest players, and after a creditable 5th place in her first attempt she has not had much success lately. A few more games getting some more experience will surely reward her later in the year.
Matthew has been in trouble for the last few games, and since the Knockouts were added on the 18th March, has not managed to eliminate anyone in any of the seven games he has played in. He has had early success in a few of these games, but an apparantly loose style of play means he loses those chips just a fast! This bad run of games must surely end soon.
Last year's league winner has been a non-starter in the last two games, but some high non-cash finishes has shown some consistency, unfortunately her regular appearances makes her highly unprofitable. However there is a good chance she will come from behind as she did with the league.
After a bad start to the year Dave has shown some good finishes, with a well deserved second place in the last game. Prior to having missed games due to theatre commitments, he'd made some high finishes which he's managed to follow through with this most recent result. A win is surely imminent.
Rees has been one of our wilder players, until last week our deadliest player owing to his apparantly aggressive style of play. A win did come a few games ago, but only a couple of top five finishes have materialised since then. If previous form is to go by, he may well overtake Christian again in the Knockouts table.
And as for Mark, well... |
