Please indicate your availability/interest in this afternoon game and your thoughts on our proposed temporary move to daytime poker.

Many thanks

I can make a 3pm game this week.

Happy to play in the afternoons, although note I'll be out of action for 3 of the weekends in March due to work flights and holiday (regardless of the time).

I ran into Catherine on Tuesday, who quite sensibly suggested we should start making a commitment of attendence (or non attendence) a fixed period of time before the game...

What do people think? It might be a bit regimented but at least it would stop Anton playing with himself again.

Damn, there isn't a *like* button on this! Too FB trained, that's me!

I think I might actually be able to make Sunday afternoons....weather permitting.

So, hurrah!

I'm against this as I can't make the afternoon this Sunday, or next Sunday or the Sunday after or quite a few in April... Dammit - I was really looking forward to this Sunday's game! Sad

I think we should keep the Official Game to the evenings. That way, if I'm the only one to turn up each week (because everyone else has played in the afternoon) I can blind everyone in until I win. This would considerably improve my stats Very Happy

I think that we all get involved in Prompt shows from time to time and that's just the way it is. One of the reasons I wouldn't be able to make a lot of the Sunday afternoons is because I'm involved with the Bell show so do feel it's a bit unfair. But... I guess I'm the minority and the more people the better for a game. (although I stand by my point about the Official Game)

My other concern is that there is a risk that, by changing the time (and then in 8 weeks changing it back again), we might cut out potential newbies from turning up. People (not on the e-mail list) are just starting to notice that there's a regular Sunday evening game again and one or two people have expressed an interest in rocking up one evening.

But mainly I'm proper gutted about this Sunday. Would anyone fancy staying on for an evening game as well? Or even starting at 5-5.30 and blinding me in until just after 6?

We could keep the offical game to the evening but I think it's quite likely that there won't be a game.

But you are right. We shouldn't change it because three of the regulars are unavailable. Let's carry on with the normal time and see what happens.

I will however have to bow out of any organisational role but will be back after the show.

All the best

Oooh does that mean there IS a game this Sunday?! Yay!

I can try and draft in some troops... Marcus should be back next week and he's keen to get involved. If the evening game starts to fail maybe a 5ish game would be a compromise...?

I think that's the wrong decision. My reasons are as follows:

1. Anton - perhaps spurred on by the onset of Dealer's Choice - has been the driving force behind Sunday night poker and it seems only fair that the games continue at a time that suits him.

2. I skimmed through the match reports and it looks like, out of the 13 games played so far this season (not including last week), 9 of them would have been 3 players or less if Anton, Chris and Matthew were taken out of the equation (one of the earlier games would have been Jack playing with himself and week before last would have just been me & Richard!)

3. When a lot of people do turn up (or when the game drags on a bit) it can mean we end up racing against the clock so it might be easier on bar staff / Matthew for us to be starting a bit earlier in any case.

I think that if we continue at the current time, there will be a few games with not really enough players, which means people will be less inclined to turn up, which means it'll just fizzle out. I know I would have massive reservations about travelling down and then not having enough people for a game.

With regard to cutting out potential newbies I don't think that's a valid point. If people have expressed an interest, can't we just add them to the email list? If they can't grasp the concept of the start time changing for a fixed period then they are probably too stupid to play poker anyway. I'm hardly a card shark and even I can get my head round that...

Anyway... just my 2p.

I'm just really keen to have a game this Sunday evening...

I think the newbies point is a valid one though - I'm talking about people we don't have e-mails for. However, having said that, I do appreciate that the convenience of regular players perhaps ought to be prioritised over concerns about new members who may or may not want to get involved.

How about the 5pm compromise?

Would that give enough time to finish for prompt rehearsals? What about 4:30 and blind bell people in for the first 30 min?

Sorry, i'm a little late for this thread as i'm just back from holiday.

I've really enjoyed the return of the poker games, and will miss the Sunday night action.
Although the Dealers Choice cast and crew haven't discussed playing yet, I think it extremely probable that we'll get together for a game, and Sunday afternoon is likely to be the sensible time for this to happen.

Why no have 2 games? - The official one at the normal time 7pm, which can be the usual 'lets get pissed on Sunday night, and play cards' game.

and one at 3pm, primarily for the Dealers Choice people, but open to any others that want to join in.

I'd love it if the evening games continued over the next few months, so we could slot back in there once Dealers Choice is over, but for that to happen, i'm a wee recruitment drive will be necessary to keep the numbers up.

I personally would be less inclined to make the journey for a three handed game each week.
