At the moment, we have £108 in the league pot, and if I take an average of £8 and, say, eight games between now and the end of the league, that gives us just over £170.

How do we want to spend this? Do we want a trophy that is then to be won next time? Or do we want prizes for the top places? Or spend it all on a night out?

I'm in favour of a night out with some kind of presentation or vice versa, trophy's a good idea. Maybe invite new players to keep them interested, "this is what you could win" kinda thing.

Personally I would be in favour of splitting it so we get.

a) A cash prize for first and second, because that's what poker is about.
b) A trophy for first place.
c) Some left over money to go behind a bar somewhere on our night out.

I would like to see us have a proper night out with presentations for this competition, the heads up competition (if we can time it so they finish at the same time) and various other serious and silly prizes (categories to be decided and winners voted for).

All this over a meal somewhere.

How does that sound?

Found some specific poker trophies here - all about the £20 mark with free engraving

http://www.onlinetrophies.co.uk/products/all-brands/poker-trophies/

Total I reckon is going to be around the £170 mark, so that would take it to £150.

Actually, they also have some silly (and cheap) trophies for the less serious prizes: http://www.onlinetrophies.co.uk/products/all-brands/cheap-trophies/

How much of the remainder would we want for the cash prizes?

With only three weeks to go we need to agree this as soon as possible.

A few weeks ago we discussed this after the game and a proposal was put forward such that...

Of approximately #170 we place #100 in the prize pool and split this #75/#25 between first and second place.

The remaining #70 goes into buying a trophy which will be engraved with the name of the winner (#25 approx) with the rest going towards buying drinks on our end of league night out.

What do people think?

Sounds good to me. ... though i think it would be fun to have some boobie prizes ie unbelieveably incredibly and unlikely bad luck (hint hint); limpetiest player; longest time contemplating a fold; most number of times dropping cards on the floor while shuffling; most drink spillages; etc etc. All this can be voted for - everyone votes for one person and it all goes into a hat and they get a naff prize.

My guess worked out pretty accurate - we have £173 in the pot. I'll organise the trophy.

When do we want to do presentation/night out?

Trophy ordered with engraving - came to £32 including shipping which leaves £141.

First two places paid out - £75 to Maria for first place and £25 to Anton for second.

This leaves £41 in the pot for a round of drinks or to put in as a contribution to a meal or something.

It was suggested last night that Sunday 20th August might be a good date? And perhaps to go to the tapas place in Crystal Palace?

Thoughts and numbers please!
