Nice report and well done Helen.
But why are you playing one table with eleven players?

I think we started with three players and the rest were blinded in. |

we really really need to start at 7 rather than 7.30.. was not a problem last year?
thanks to Catherine Christian and Dave for keeping score. |

I think you should start at 7 and make 7.30 the cutoff for blinding people in. With more people playing it seems to now be trickier to organise and games seem to be spilling over past closing. I remember last year we discussed starting at 6 or 6.30 even to avoid this.
I know I haven't played much this year but I would be disappointed to drive all the way up, which I hope to do on Sunday, and play with three people until everyone else turns up at 8. |

i agree. and seeing that we have had only one game out of the last 8 with less than 10 players we should possibly assume two tables. 7pm will be specified next game.
maybe a pokerqueens rules book! |

" - POKERQUEENS (Sunday SLT Tournament games) Guidelines -
1. Each player’s starting stack will be one thousand in chips.
2. Blind levels shall be as follows: 10/20 15/30 20/40 25/50 50/100 75/150 100/200 150/300 200/400 300/600 400/800 500/1000.
3. Games shall be held on Sunday evenings (except when there is another event organised such as SLT-Hee-Hee).
4. The game should start promptly at 7pm to ensure a finishing time well before the bar closes.
5. Any game with more than ten players shall be played simultaneously across two tables. This is to ensure faster and more interesting play.
6. The blind levels shall increase every twenty minutes, and after an agreed time (such as 9pm) this should be cut to 15 minutes.
6(a). If the game has not been completed by the end of drinking-up time (10.50pm on Sundays), then the player with the most chips shall be declared the winner.
7. Any player who cannot make the start time should inform another player of their intention to play, either in person or by phoning the bar (tel 020 8670 4661) before 7pm on the night of the game. It will be assumed that any player who has not contacted either another player or the bar by 7pm is not playing.
8. Players are allowed to be blinded in for 45 minutes from the start of the game, after which their chips will be removed from play.
9. No player shall be allowed to join a game after it has started (unless they have asked to be blinded in).
9(a). A player must be at the table by the time all players have their complete starting hands in order to have a live hand for that deal. Any player found to be absent from the table shall have their hand folded, whether or not they would have the opportunity to check.
9(b). If when a player is eliminated in a multi-table the tables become uneven (eg 7 and 5), then a player from the other table should be moved to the table with less players. This player should be moved to the same table position as before. A point to note is that if this player is now small blind then there will be no small blind on the table he or she has left; similarly if he was dealer then the table which he has left shall have a ghost dealer.
9(c). If a player is eliminated and would have been on small blind, then there is no small blind the next hand with the big blind goes to the next player as usual; if he would have been the dealer then the next hand would have a ghost dealer.
10. If for any reason a 7pm start cannot happen, the blinds should start at a higher level in order to compensate. For example a 7.30 start the levels should start at 15/30, or an 8pm start, 25/50. In other words the clock should start at 7pm regardless of whether play has started, and in any case the blinds should have reached 100/200 by 9pm.
11. The winner of the game shall receive 70% of the pot, and the runner-up shall receive 30% of the pot. The final two players may also agree to end the game early and split the pot howsoever they choose.
12. Standard Texas Hold’em playing rules shall be observed as displayed at http://pokerqueens.co.uk/rules/, as well as any previously agreed house rules.
Footnotes.
1. Please visit http://pokerqueens.co.uk/forums/ for discussion, latest news, results, form and other poker-related information."
Please reply with any suggestions, corrections, disagreements etc. I don't want it to sound too peremptory.

Sounds good. Perhaps you should underline number 4.
And perhaps you should mail this to those who don't look on here or print it out and give it to people on Sunday? |

my word document didn't transfer the formatting. i've also swapped a few around (not that it matters.)
i was intending to pass this around at the next few games so that it filtered through, however first i want to get a straw poll on what others think. |

It all sounds good to me.
Maybe clarify the "intending to play" one to say that if no phone call has been received by 7pm to confirm attendance it will be assumed that the person is NOT playing.
We ended up with 11 on Sunday when we didn't expect to, and it was a long game, even though we started fairly soon after 7 ...
There was a LOT of misdealing going on too which really slowed things up. We only managed two hands on one blind level at one point! |

From Matthew (he can't access this board)
I would like 'with the agreement of the remaining players' added to Guideline 6. I would also like a Guideline that states that if the game is not completed by 10.50 (on Sundays) then the player with the most chips should be declared the winner.

Agreed. Part of the nightmare this Sunday was trying to work out how to blind in people who hadn't confirmed before the game started |

I sent this as a reply to Mark's email but I'll repeat it here
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an excellent initiative. Well done Mark for clarifying this!
I think that we should lose the last part of Guideline 6 'It should be cut further if there are still many players in the game by 10pm.'
And replace it with Matthew's suggestion. 'I would also like a Guideline that states that if the game is not completed by 10.50 (on Sundays) then the player with the most chips should be declared the winner.'
The reason for this is that I think that all of the playing rules and conditions should be agreed and set before the game starts and no decisions made or goalposts moved during the game. If we adopt Matthew's suggestion then it doesn't matter if 10 players are
still in at 10.00. Once it gets to 10.50 we do a count and declare the winner.

Anton, is there a function for splitting this conversation off into a different thread to keep it all together? |
