mmm
Didn't get an email or a call for this?

Look, I know i'm improving rapidly, but I didn't think I was that much of a threat! Razz

It would've been redundant anyway as I had arranged to go out for a drink in West Norwood after the poker. It's just too much hassle to get from West Norwood to Forest Hill and back (then home to Euston).

Still, I think i'll take the travel hassle next time as I got stuck doing the bar for the comedy night!

Can't wait for last nights results.........

Sorry Chris.

I thought you were rehearsing Dust Collectors and would come down with those that were part of that group.

I didn't ring everyone, as people were in several distinct groups who would be together that afternoon anyway so the news would be passed on.

In fact the only person I rang was Mark as he was the only person who had not replied to the post/mail and was not rehearsing Dust Collectors or Between Worlds.

Apologies again.

Could we have a try at changing chip stack and blinds levels, copying roughly what they do at gutshot ?

Start with 1500 chips:
1 x 500 (use the 5 as a 500)
4 x 25
4 x 100

- This dispenses with having lots of 5's flying around, also we will have 9 chips instead of 36. Change can be obtained from the pot or other players.

Blinds start higher, increase rapidly at first, then become relatively equivalent to the current system.

Chips - 1500, relative difference +1.50

Level Small Big Relative
1 25 25 0.8
2 25 50 1.1
3 50 100 1.7
4 75 150 2.0
5 100 200 1.3
6 150 300 1.3
7 200 400 1.3
8 300 600 1.3
9 500 1000 1.7
10 600 1200 1.6
11 800 1600 1.8
12 1000 2000 1.7
13 1200 2400 1.6
14 1500 3000 1.7
15 2000 4000 1.7

The rate of blinds increase faster and is relatively higher at each level until 300/600 when it becomes the same. ie, at the fourth level, here 75/150, would be equivalent to 25/50 currently. The big blind is 3 times higher, but take into account 50% more chips, it is relatively twice as high. The 'jump' occurs earlier.

This, along with have physically fewer chips, would encourage more play. The first two levels can be at 30 mins each (as with gutshot), which sets the game up. Levels 3 and 4 go to 20 mins, with remaining levels reducing further to 15 mins. So L1-4 take 1hr50, but 5-8 take 60 mins, which takes account of fewer players and makes for faster and more exciting play.

Our normal game takes about 210mins, that's 12 levels, about the same as the proposed - the difference being that the levels are about two-thirds more expensive.

Any thoughts and comments..?

sounds good to me.
I think we should use these 'friendly' games to try out different set-ups.
We'll know pretty quickly if they're better or not.

It's worth remembering that at Gutshot these chip stacks and blind levels are designed for a Multi Table Tournament. They encourage action because they may have 100 players to get through.

I think at a table of 8 or 9 we may find that the game doesn't last very long.

Sounds like a good idea and it might be nice if we have time for a couple of games, if you go out first you won't just be sitting watching all night.
