Woops. I accidentally deleted the old thread in a spam killing frenzy.

I'm seriously considering resigning from this tournament! I finally got a hand yesterday and ended up folding a big pot that I would have won (ok split), by mistake.

Got dealt Ad 2d on the button. No raise so I call the BB and the flop comes down A2J rainbow (no diamonds). Woo hoo, two pair.

Lots of checking after the flop until one player raises 1000 and another re-raises to 3000. I'm still thinking I'm ahead (these players have been quite loose and I don't suspect them of slow-playing AA, JJ or AJ) and decide to just call and put in a big raise on the turn whatever comes.

EXCEPT! In my email I type CALL $2000 by mistake instead of CALL $3000!

Instead of getting an email saying my call is not enough and that I must up it to $3000 I get folded!!!

The first raiser then goes all-in, second raiser goes all in and I watch. First player has ace rag, second KQ.

Turn and river come down two nines. First player wins 22,000 with AA99J. I would have shown down the best hand by far but split the pot with my pair of 2s counterfeited by the 9s. $11,000 down the drain.

Don't know if I can be bothered with this anymore.

instead of your more familiar commands, MAKE $xx mean you make the bet $xx. http://www.wrgpt.org/manual.html#Advance(d)%20Betting

So if the bet to you is $300, and you say MAKE $700, you're raising by $400. On the other hand if you had said MAKE $500, you'd get another go because the raise (of $200) isn't enough.

The point is that it doesn't fold your cards if your bet isn't enough, it gives you another option.

I agree that this is the safer option but I just wanted to call. You shouldn't have to put a number in at all. CALL should suffice. It is totally unambiguous!

Haven't had a hand since. It might be the only one I get.

Oh, that's a bit of a bugger Anton.

I think all the advance action commands are a bit pointless, as generally if you're involved in a hand, you need to know what the others are doing before you completely commit to a decision.

I guess the correct command you shoud have used in this instance was CALL *

In generally though, the only 2 commands I use are MAKE (cos it always gives you a second option if you've done summut wrong), and FOLD.

I think I might have a go at the chit chat though.

Maybe a bit of Cilla Black "What's your name and where do you come from Chuck?"

Might be easier to keep track of things if we all post our table numbers , and again when we move to a new table:

Actually this was very similar to the hand I was pissed off about. I limp with ace-rag and flop two pair. Only this time I did manage to call the all-in bet correctly and won the pot.

Justice was done.
